Whitby Sports Fair

WHITBY Leisure Centre is getting ready to host the first-ever Whitby Community Sports Fair on Saturday 13th February. The event is designed to give people the chance to engage with local sports clubs and see what opportunities they have to get involved. The event is free to attend and will take place from 10am until noon.

Matt Hewison, Scarborough Borough Council's sports development officer said: "All the local clubs and organisations have done their bit by agreeing to attend the event in their own time.

"The response from the clubs has been fantastic with 28 organisations getting involved, ranging from voluntary sports clubs, funding bodies and strategic groups.

"This event is a really good opportunity for the community to visit a one-stop-shop of sporting opportunities and I would encourage them to attend to see what excellent work these volunteers do for sport."

The organisations who are attending the event are: Fishburn Park Football Club, Whitby Squash Club, Whitby Gymnastics Club, Whitby Wizards Basketball Club, Ryedale and Whitby School Sports Partnership, Loftus and Whitby Athletic Club, Sleights Bowling Club, Mulgrave Community Sports Association, Whitby and District Motor Club, Whitby and District Rifle Club, Whitby and District Extended Schools, North Yorkshire Sport, Whitby Table Tennis Club, Whitby Company of Archers, Whitby Friendship Amateur Rowing Club, Whitby Fishermen's Amateur Rowing Club, Scarborough and District Sports Council, Active Scarborough, Whitby and Filey, Ultimate Soccer Schools, Whitby Cricket Club, Whitby Shotokan Karate Club, Scarborough Borough Council's Area Committee Fund, North Yorkshire Outdoor Education Service, Whitby Badminton Club, Whitby Springhill Badminton Club, Coast and Moors Voluntary Action, Whitby Yacht Club and Whitby Seals Swimming Club.
