Boggles the shop opened in March 1999. The owners, North Yorkshire born Peter and Karen Hughes have been captivated by ancient tales of the North Yorkshire Boggle who are now reawakening for the millennium, ready to help the more caring and hardworking human spirit emerging for the 21st century.

The shop offers a wide range of giftware and original arts and crafts made by local people, including the Boggle, designed and hand crafted and sold with a certificate of authenticity. The original batch of Boggles are already very collectable.

The shop also offers a unique service in digital photography. You can have your photograph taken in the shop and have an image created with a background putting you anywhere in this world - or beyond - while you wait. Alien landscapes are popular with children as are ghostly images of Whitby Abbey for the Goths who visit twice yearly.

Many local people bring photographs of their friends and relatives in to be scanned and turned into humorous cards for special occasions.

Regular visitors can take advantage of joining the "Boggle Club" by purchasing a discount card for £1 - the proceeds of which are donated to the Whitby Lifeboats.

Whether just visiting or local, you can expect a warm welcome at Boggles.
